The drying of small parts can be difficult. The introduction of centrifugal
dryers has made this job a lot easier. Parts to be dried are loaded into
perforated baskets, the baskets are then placed into the dryer, and the
load is then spun at high speed to shed water from the part surface. Heated
forced air can then be used to aid in the drying process.
The size of the centrifugal dryer depends on the weight of the load to be dried.
Sizes ranging from small tabletop units which utilize a 6” X 6” basket for 5# loads,
to larger dryer units which utilize a 30” X 24” basket for up to 800# loads.
Drying times depend on the part configuration, the temperature of the
load to be dried, the load size, and whether heated, forced air is to
be used.
If heated, forced air is to be used, electric elements,
steam coils or hot water coils can be used to heat the forced air.
Timers, ramp-up / ramp-down speed control, and variable speed control
options are available.
The basket design and the size of the perforation can also vary.
