ANTIQUING
Antique finishes, over the years, have been very popular
with various industries. Applications include decorative hardware
of all types, light fixture manufacturers, fasteners, lock
manufacturers and jewelry, to name a few.
In nature, all metallic surfaces are somewhat unstable.
In other words, the surface wants to form an oxide on the
surface, which is more stable than the pure metal or cast
alloy. The antiquing of a metallic surface is an “artificial”
way of accelerating this natural occurrence.
With proprietary chemistries, we can produce finishes on
your parts that match a desired antique finish, the surface
may then be mechanically relieved or highlighted, and then
a protective topcoat is applied to protect this final finish.
There are a variety of technologies available for protective
topcoat finishes. Some of those are;
- Air Dry Lacquers
- Cross-Linked Resins
- Clear Powder Coat
- Electrophoretic Lacquers
- Waxes
- Oils
Various methods can be used to achieve your final result.
The antique finishes may be applied by immersion, brush, spray
or wipe-on, depending on your part size or your processing
options.
