CHEMICAL POLISHING / BRIGHT DIPPING

Chemical polishing or bright dipping of metals is done to remove stock material, metal oxides, heat-treat scale, discolorations, and / or foreign metals from the surface of the part. Chemical polishes or bright dips are generally acid based and produce surfaces that are very clean and active allowing for further processing.

To ensure uniform brightening of the surface, the parts must be clean and free from any oil or soils. This can be accomplished by either aqueous or solvent cleaning.  For severe scale conditions from brazing operations, specially formulated products are available to help pre-condition these areas to improve the surface prior to further processing.
