POST TREATMENTS
Post treatments are used widely throughout the metal finishing
industry. Post treatments are used when additional corrosion,
abrasion resistance, or for adding depth in color.
Dry film lubricants, waxes, or Teflon dispersions, can be
applied over bare substrates to improve abrasion resistance.
Water soluble or solvent based post treatments can be applied
over bare substrates or over chromated surfaces to improve
corrosion resistance.
The water soluble technologies can be synthetic oils, lacquers
with or without chromium, nitrite based or non-nitrate based
corrosion inhibitors. The solvent based technologies are
typically petroleum based products which contain solvents
to help provide a dryer to the touch film.
