To be competitive in the metal finishing market today,
customers are seeing the need to automate their processing
lines.Automation increases production, reduces rejects,
improves quality and increases profitability.
There are two main type of automatic plating systems,
return-type and programmed hoist.
Return-type automatic plating lines are either oblique
barrel or rack. These systems are typically lower in
initial cost than programmed hoist, and they tend to
require less floor space. A split-rail rises and descends,
elevating and lowering the work carrier. The work carrier
supports the work and carries the current. A pusher
then advances the work carrier from station to station.
Programmed hoist systems are either horizontal barrel,
rack, or basket work. These systems allow for the most
flexibility in tank size, process cycle time and sequence.
The hoist raises and lowers the individual racks, baskets
or barrel superstructures rather than an entire work
carrier. Current is then drawn from bronze, saddles
located on each electrified station, rather than an
entire work carrier. Programmed hoist systems also allow
for additional tanks to be added at any time.
